PERSPECTIVES OF USING DECORATIVE CEREAL AND FRAGRANT PLANTS IN VINNYTSIA REGION GARDENING
Prokopchuk Valentyna Marianivna – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Forestry, Horticulture, Horticulture and Viticulture, Vinnytsia National Agrarian University (21008, Vinnytsia, Soniachna Str.3).
It was selected and proposed for use in the gardening industry data types of plants that received high indicators of economic and biological characteristics: Calamagrostis acutiflora Roth., Miscanthus sinensis Anders., Phalaris arundinacea L., Stipa pulcherrima L., Cordaderia selloana Schult., Festuca glauca L., Mentha spicata L., Rosmarinus officinalis L., Thymus serpyllum L., Salvia splendens, Sellow ex. Shult., Melissa officinalis L., Lavandula angustifolia Mill, according to the results of research of existing and introduced ornamental grasses and aromatic herbs in Vinnytsia region. After comparative analysis of plants at certain stages of development, the estimation of periods of the highest decorative value is presented. For cereal herbs, this period is prolonged and falls on summer-autumn (Cortaderia selloana, Calamagrostis acutiflora and Miscanthus sinensis). The highest level of aroma is the fragrant herbs released on the sunny days of summer, when essential oils are more intense (Salvia splendens, Melissa officinalis, Lavandula angustifolia). Based on generalized data on the morphological characteristics of the investigated plant species, the potential seed yield of the studied species was determined. It wasestablished that the decorative herbs in the conditions of the study formed a viable seed with high seed productivity - 22,0 ± 2,3 seeds per generative shoot in Festuca glauca to 372,0 ± 2,34 in Calamagrostis acutiflora. nasinnyefikatsiyi factor in the studied conditions ranged from 17,2% in Rosmarinus officinalis to 95.6% in Cortaderia selloana.
It has been established that all studied species are successfully used in landscaping: in mixburders and plant groups, the vast majority of them are used in clubs. Premature forms of ornamental grasses are used to create saltines, low-growing, shale grasses and fragrant grasses are preferred when creating stone slides, and curbs are laid based on shrub and semi-cultivar low or medium-sized investigated species of plants.
