FORMATION OF THE SQUASH YIELD IN THE DEPENDENCE ON THE SOWING TERMS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE RIGHT-BANK FOREST-STEPPE OF UKRAINE
Palamarchuk Inna Ivanivna – Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Landscape Gardeniing, Horticulture and Viticulture of the Vinnytsia National Agrarian University (21008, Vinnytsia, Soniachna Str.3,e-mail: pal_inna@vsau.vin.ua).
The results of studies on the effect of sowing dates on the yield of squash plants in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine are given. The dependence of the growth and development of the squash plants on the weather conditions that have evolved during the years of research has been revealed. The use of later planting time of squash contributed to the reduction of interphase periods of plants. At sowing term in the ІІІ decade of April was received the highest productivity of squash plants with the highest biometric indicators, due to security of the soil with enough moisture and favorable temperature conditions. Plants had the greatest length of a stalk and the area of leaves at sowing term in the ІІІ decade of April – 61.8 cm and 6.8 thousand sq.m/hectare respectively. The longest period of squash plants fructification is noted at sowing term in the ІІІ decade of April – 78 days. At sowing term in the ІІІ decade of April largest yield of a harvest was obtained – 11.0 t/hectare, due to formation of the greatest number of fruits on a plant – 17.4 pieces / a plant and the largest mass of a fruit – 288 g is received.
