Description:
The issue of the magazine is devoted to topical issues of improving technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Considerable attention is paid to the peculiarities of growing vegetable, grain and leguminous crops, which play an important role in ensuring the food security of the state. Scientific publications present the results of experimental research on the fertilization of grain crops, the importance of soil moisture for the formation of friendly seedlings of field crops, as well as the effectiveness of technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Separate works of European scientists highlight the issue of pre-sowing seed treatment and the use of biological preparations to protect plants from harmful objects. The issue of effective use of the forest fund of enterprises, increasing the role of agroforestry in the creation of sustainable food systems and the creation of targeted wood plantations was also considered.

Annotation

This article presents the results of an assessment of the current condition, productivity, and functional effectiveness of linear-type forest stands within the Kryzhopil Territorial Community in Vinnytsia Oblast. Protective forest plantations are an important component of agricultural landscapes, as they provide comprehensive protection of land against water and wind erosion, regulate surface runoff, promote snow accumulation and even distribution, conserve soil resources, and stabilize microclimatic conditions. At the same time, prolonged exploitation, insufficient maintenance, structural damage, and changes in species composition lead to a gradual decline in their protective role. It has been established that most of the surveyed stands in the Kryzhopil territorial community are in good condition and exhibit high productivity. The stand is dominated by common oak, with common ash, hornbeam, maple, and linden also present. The predominant forest type is fresh hornbeam oak forest. Old-growth stands over 100 years old are characterized by significant productivity indicators: the average tree height is 26-29 m, diameter is 36-44 cm, crown density is 0.65-0.70, and timber volume is 290-319 m³/ha. The highest volume was recorded in a 112-year-old stand – 319 m³/ha. These figures demonstrate the significant resource and ecological potential of such stands. At the same time, a number of factors have been identified that negatively affect the functional effectiveness of protective forest plantations. The main problems include the absence or untimely implementation of maintenance measures, changes to the original design of forest strips, excessive shrub growth, thinning of the tree stand, the disappearance of certain tree species, and soil overgrowth with grass. Particularly dangerous is the disruption of the spatial integrity of the forest-reclamation system, as the absence of runoff-regulating and water-regulating elements contributes to the concentration of surface runoff and the intensification of erosion processes. Significant tree damage was observed in some old-growth stands: the proportion of damaged trees ranged from 14 % to 70 %, with the highest level of damage characteristic of stands aged 107-112 years. The average crown reduction was approximately 40-50 %, and defoliation of most trees did not exceed 10 %.
