The issue of the magazine is devoted to topical issues of improving technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Considerable attention is paid to the peculiarities of growing vegetable, grain and leguminous crops, which play an important role in ensuring the food security of the state. Scientific publications present the results of experimental research on the fertilization of grain crops, the importance of soil moisture for the formation of friendly seedlings of field crops, as well as the effectiveness of technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Separate works of European scientists highlight the issue of pre-sowing seed treatment and the use of biological preparations to protect plants from harmful objects. The issue of effective use of the forest fund of enterprises, increasing the role of agroforestry in the creation of sustainable food systems and the creation of targeted wood plantations was also considered.

Restoring food systems in post-conflict and crisis contexts shows that short, local value chains – typical for small family producers – are the most resilient because they are less dependent on centralized infrastructure and external markets. Based on a survey of 63 farming enterprises, this paper identifies the main structural barriers in the value chain and documents how small agroforestry farms have adapted under wartime conditions. The survey was carried out via the SurveyMonkey platform from January to August 2025 through farmer networks, the research team’s professional contacts, and WWF-Ukraine communication channels. Quantitative data were processed using frequency distribution with calculation of respondent shares for each answer option. Responses to 35 questions of various types were grouped into substantive categories. The study found that the principal challenges and barriers in the value chain are labor shortages and resource deficits related to lack of seed, fertilizers, and plant protection products, compounded by high prices. Financial obstacles – limited access to credit and shortages of working capital – pose significant risks. Despite their adaptive capacity, farmers face structural barriers tied to market access, processing infrastructure, and regulatory conditions. Analysis of relationships among farm size, production practices, processing, and marketing showed that production scale largely determines opportunities for product diversification, access to processing infrastructure, and integration into formal market channels. Adaptation and development strategies for small agroforestry farms are outlined; the resilience of their food value chains depends strongly on flexibility, diversified production, and strong links to local markets. An important adaptation pathway is moving toward on farm processing – shifting from selling raw materials to producing finished products – which increases product added value. Strengthening the role of agroforestry farms in building resilient food systems and supporting post war recovery in Ukraine requires enhanced institutional support and improved value chain infrastructure.

The aim of the journal "Agriculture and Forestry" is to highlight the results of fundamental and applied research in the fields of agriculture and forestry, aimed at improving the efficiency of agricultural production and introducing modern technologies into farming practice.
This goal defines the main objectives:
– to ensure the creation of open information access regarding the dissemination of relevant scientific research results to: lecturers of agricultural higher education institutions, postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, research staff, and agricultural production specialists;
– to promote the development of young scientists in agricultural sciences;
– to enhance communication between experienced researchers and young scientists in agronomy and forestry;
– to facilitate the expansion of ties between Vinnytsia National Agrarian University and domestic and foreign educational institutions, scientific establishments, and their academic communities.
The scientific, production, and educational journal "Agriculture and Forestry" is a peer-reviewed open-access publication that publishes original experimental research, theoretical and practice-oriented articles within the cluster of "Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences".
The journal's subject matter covers such areas as agronomy and forestry. Publications of scientific and practical significance address the experimental foundations of agricultural and forestry sector development, innovative production technologies, and the results of fundamental and applied research aimed at increasing productivity, product quality, and the sustainable development of natural and production systems.
