Issue №: 3 (42)
The issue of the magazine is devoted to topical issues of improving technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Considerable attention is paid to the peculiarities of growing vegetable, grain and leguminous crops, which play an important role in ensuring the food security of the state. Scientific publications present the results of experimental research on the fertilization of grain crops, the importance of soil moisture for the formation of friendly seedlings of field crops, as well as the effectiveness of technological methods of growing agricultural crops. Separate works of European scientists highlight the issue of pre-sowing seed treatment and the use of biological preparations to protect plants from harmful objects. The issue of effective use of the forest fund of enterprises, increasing the role of agroforestry in the creation of sustainable food systems and the creation of targeted wood plantations was also considered.
BIOLOGICAL FEATURES AND FORMATION OF SOWING QUALITIES OF BEET SEEDS
Valentyn Andriyovych Pihotskyi – Postgraduate student of the Department of Forestry and Horticulture, Vinnytsia National Agrarian University (21008, Vinnytsia, Sonyachna St., 3. email: pikhotskyi.v@gmail.com, orcid.org/0009-0004-3546-1218).
The article highlights the results of a study of the sowing quality indicators of modern varieties of table beet seeds in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. The relevance of the work is due to the need to use high-quality seed material, which ensures the formation of friendly seedlings, intensive initial development of plants, the implementation of the genetic potential of the variety and obtaining a stable yield of high-quality vegetable products. It was established that the sowing quality of seeds is one of the determining factors of the efficiency of the technology of growing table beet and requires a comprehensive assessment taking into account varietal characteristics. The aim of the study was to scientifically substantiate the varietal variability of sowing quality indicators of table beet seeds and determine the varieties with the highest sowing potential. The study was conducted on experimental plots of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University in conditions of gray forest soil. The object of the study were the varieties of table beet Bordeaux Kharkivskyi, Chervonaya Kulya, Tsylindra and Opolsky. The evaluation was carried out according to the indicators of seed purity, germination energy, laboratory germination and 1000-seed mass in accordance with the current requirements of state standards. As a result of the research, it was found that all the studied varieties were characterized by high seed purity (99.8–100.0%) and met the regulatory requirements for sowing qualities. The highest indicators of germination energy were found in the varieties Opolsky (77%) and Chervona Kulya (76%), which indicates their high potential for the formation of friendly seedlings. The maximum laboratory germination (84%) was noted in the variety Tsilindra, while the varieties Chervona Kulya and Opolsky had the same germination level – 83%, and the variety Bordeaux Kharkivskyi – 80%. The largest mass of 1000 seeds was formed by the variety Chervona Kulya (21,4 g), which characterizes its better provision with reserve nutrients at the initial stages of development. The results obtained indicate significant varietal variability of sowing indicators of table beet seed quality and confirm the feasibility of taking them into account when selecting varieties for production. According to the totality of the studied indicators, the most promising varieties were Opolsky, Chervona Kulya and Tsylindra, which were characterized by high values of germination energy, laboratory germination and good seed filling. The results of the study can be used to improve the seed production system, justify the choice of varieties and increase the efficiency of table beet growing technology.
